The data has been loaded from a database. You can edit the data in the
spreadsheet, but this will not affect the data in the database. If you
want to save the data in the spreadsheet to a file, click the Export to Excel
button on the toolbar, or simply copy and paste.
If you wanted to update the data in the database, this would be done by
entering the data into, either special cells in the spreadsheet, or boxes
on the this, or another web page, then clicking an update button. Clearly
for most situations, it would not be appropriate for any user to simply
update live data. By using a separate screen, or page, or boxes, for
updating, checks can be made on both the data itself and the authority of
the user.
In this example, you may want to see the sales
totals so far, and the effect of adding, or changing existing, data.
Various people may want to see this data and do their own particular set
of calculations, or manipulation, with the latest data.
